Nuggets not engaging in Carmelo trade talks

Carmelo Anthony made it pretty clear this offseason that he’s interested in leaving the Denver Nuggets , which still has a three-year, $65 million contract extension offer on the table to its star.

What are your opinions.

Police called after altercation involving Nuggets’ Smith

The Denver Nuggets are trying to trade guard J.R. Smith , whose value wasn’t helped when police were called to the team’s practice facility last Friday as a result of an altercation involving the player. AOL Fanhouse reports that a player not associated with the team claimed Smith "attacked" him .

What do you guys think about this.

Nuggets and Anthony meet

Carmelo Anthony hasn’t exactly made it clear that he wants to stay with the Denver Nuggets recently, but the team would love to hang onto him. So Nuggets exec Josh Kroenke met up with Carmelo Anthony this past weekend in Baltimore, according to Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski to try to sell the player on sticking with the franchise. The 30-year-old Kroenke, who also happens to be the owner’s son, will likely take over the team someday and got a firsthand test this past weekend while trying to show Anthony that it would totally be worth his while to take the three-year, $65 million contract extension that is on the table from the team rather than becoming a free agent next summer and moving to another team

Running low on time today, i’ll be back tomorrow hopefully with some more news.

Nuggets exec meets with Anthony

Carmelo Anthony hasn’t made it clear that he wants to stay with the Denver Nuggets , but the team certainly wants him to stay. So Nuggets exec Josh Kroenke met with Anthony last weekend to try to sell him on staying, according to Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski . The 30-year-old Kroenke, who is the owner’s son and is likely to take over the team someday, got a taste of the responsibility over the weekend as he presumably tried to convince Anthony to take the three-year, $65 million contract extension rather than become a free agent next summer

Carmelo Anthony leaning toward leaving Nuggets

The word may be that Denver Nuggets is still considering that three-year, $65 million contract extension from the team, but ESPN is hearing from its league sources that "it is now a matter of when, not if , Anthony and the Nuggets will go their separate ways." One source told the site, "He’s going to make it real clear that he’s not coming back." Don’t go burning any bridges, Carmelo. Nuggets owner Stan Kroenke knows the situation, the site reports, and the concept of his team without Anthony after next season started to become real at the player’s New York wedding in June, where New Orleans Hornets Chris Paul (notes) , New York Knicks forward Amar’e Stoudemire (notes) , and Anthony’s brother, Robert, publicly laid pressure on Anthony to leave Denver for New York. Say goodbye, Nuggets fans.

Not much else going on in the NBA world today.

Nuggets’ Carmelo Anthony still undecided

The Denver Nuggets would love it if forward Carmelo Anthony (notes) decided to stick around for a few more years and take a shot at winning a championship in the Mile High City. The team has had a three-year, $65 million contract-extension offer on the table for some time to the man who is entering the last year of his current deal.

Carmelo Anthony exploring New York option?

Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony (notes) is a free agent next summer and he has told friends that he’s "eager to explore playing" for the New York Knicks when his contract is up, according to CBSSports.com. However, the site reports that Anthony is also a little confused about what’s going to happen with the next collective bargaining agreement and that could lead to him signing the three-year, $65 million extension the Nuggets have offered him. Sources to CBSSports.com say that team owners are determined to "clamp down" on player salaries and player movement in the next CBA after all the free-agent nuttiness this summer

Former Nuggets GM Warkentien headed to Knicks?

The Denver Nuggets sent its general manager, Mark Warkentien, packing yesterday and the New York Post is reporting that he’ll be a "strong … GM candidate" for the New York Knicks . Of course, that depends on if Knicks president Donnie Walsh wants to fill that spot or not

There is the quick update of the day.

Billups: Carmelo Anthony will sign extension with Denver

Carmelo Anthony (notes) has a three-year contract extension offer worth $65 million on the table from the Denver Nuggets and Denver Post sources say he is going to take it . Fellow Nuggets star Chauncey Billups (notes) is feeling that way as well: "I know Melo loves Denver, it’s pretty much home and I think that he will [sign the extension]," he told the paper. Of course, if Anthony doesn’t sign, Billups sends him a warning in jest, saying, "He better [sign], or he’s going to have a problem on his hands when he sees me." Follow Yahoo! Harrington picks Nuggets over Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks were "real close" to signing power forward Al Harrington (notes) on Tuesday afternoon for five years and $34 million but lost out for the same amount of money to the Denver Nuggets , according to Yahoo! Sports’ Marc J. Spears. The Nuggets could promise the 30-year-old something the Mavs could not: a starting spot

Jermaine O’Neal leaning toward Celtics

It’s not a done deal, but it’s looking like 6-11 center Jermaine O’Neal (notes) is going to sign with the Boston Celtics , sources tell Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski, who reports that O’Neal was choosing between Boston and the Denver Nuggets (with the Dallas Mavericks in the mix as well). Wojnarowski reports that the 31-year-old 13-year pro is thought to have been offered a $5.8 million midlevel exception over two years. Adding O’Neal would certainly help the Celtics fill the hole that Kendrick Perkins (notes) is leaving as he recovers from knee surgery for five or six months.

What are your opinions.

Anthony to take Nuggets’ offer — eventually ?

The Denver Nuggets have offered all-star forward Carmelo Anthony (notes) a three-year, $65 million extension and it looks like he’s going to take it, according to a Denver Post source .   However, Anthony "doesn’t have a timetable" to sign the deal, as he prepares for his wedding Saturday and waits to see how Denver improves the frontcourt, the paper reports. The Post says, "nothing is definite until he signs the contract, and he will naturally keep an eye on free-agent signings this month to see how all the teams make moves." The Post’s source also told the paper that Anthony isn’t going to play for Team USA in the world championships this summer; he plans to spend the summer with his family. The Nuggets had considered trading Anthony if he didn’t sign an extension but now that doesn’t appear to be an issue, the Post reports

Carmelo Anthony headed to trading block?

Carmelo Anthony (notes) has one more year left on his contract with the Denver Nuggets before he can opt out  and become an unrestricted free agent. The Nuggets are feeling like he may do just that so they are "prepared to trade Melo rather than let him walk" next summer, according to a source for the Denver Post . Anthony will make $17 million this season.

That’s all the news for today.

Lawson, who was drafted in the first round last year by the Minnesota Timberwolves and then traded to the Nuggets for a future first-round pick, averaged 8.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game last season.

That’s all the news for today.
